HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Paul
4James Beaver Jr. of Lincoln, who passed away on February 26,
52019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. was born in Lincoln to Paul James
7and Mildred (Blaum) Beaver Sr. on March 19, 1936; he married
8Sue Moore in Mt. Pulaski on November 24, 1960; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. was a Professor of History at
10Lincoln College, as well as a self-employed real estate
11appraiser; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. served as Curator of the Lincoln
13College Museum at Lincoln College; he served on the Logan
14County Board, the Logan County Paramedics Association Board,
15and as President of the Illinois Chester White Association;
16along with Paul Beaver and Sons and Families, he produced many
17award-winning Chester White Swine; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. worked with the tourism board on
19the Looking for Lincoln project; he co-wrote the book Logan
20County Pictorial History with Paul E. Gleason and also wrote
21the books Abraham Lincoln in Logan County, Illinois 1834-1860,

1and The Last Farm Boy; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. was a member of the First
3Presbyterian Church and the Lincoln Elks Club; he was an
4athlete who played on the 1969 State Champion Road Runner
5Softball team and the Road Runner Basketball team and also a
6coach at Elkhart Grade School; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. was named Professor Emeritus at
8Lincoln College, Grand Marshall of the 2008 Lincoln Community
9High School Homecoming, and Courier Citizen of the Year in
102008; he was a lifelong Cubs fan who lived long enough to
11finally see a World Series win; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. is survived by his wife, Sue; his
13daughters, Ann Lorraine (Ronald) Wolpert and Amy Jo (John)
14O'Donnell; his grandchildren, Ethan Paul Witting, Hannah
15Michel Witting, Lauren Ashley O'Donnell, and Kevin Patrick
16O'Donnell; his brother, John (Kathy) Beaver; and his
17brother-in-law, David Coogan; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we mourn the passing of Paul James Beaver Jr. and extend our
21sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
22and loved him; and be it further
