HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Fred C. Hohnke on 30 years
4of service to the Woodridge Park District; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was elected to the Woodridge Park
6District Board of Commissioners in April 1989, receiving 3,212
7votes out of the 4,541 ballots cast; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was reelected in 1995, 2001, 2007,
92013, and 2019; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke served as the board's vice president
11from 1993 to 1996 and as president since 1996; he also served
12as the board's liaison on various committees; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke served on the board of directors for
14the Great Lakes Regional Council for the National Recreation
15and Park Association (NRPA) from 2000 to 2009, as board
16president for the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD)
17in 1997, as a trustee of the Illinois Institutional Investors
18Trust (Illinois Park District Liquid Asset Fund) from 1994 to
19the present, and as chairman of the IAPD/IPRA Joint
20Distinguished Agency Accreditation Committee in 2011 and 2012;

1    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke received the 1998 NRPA's Citizen Board
2Member Branch National Service Award, the IAPD's 1999 Allan A.
3Weissburg Commissioner of the Year Award, and the 2004 Mike
4Cassidy Commissioner Community Service Award; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was a strong advocate for the
6advancement of the Woodridge Park District through the
7development and improvement of parks, programs, services, and
8facilities in a fiscally responsible manner; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was instrumental in developing a
10neighborhood park within walking distance of every resident;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke did more with less by stretching local
13taxpayer dollars to complete capital development and
14improvement projects; he secured over 11 million dollars in
15federal and State grants during his tenure; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke supported intergovernmental
17cooperation by voting in favor of several intergovernmental
18agreements with other Woodridge governmental agencies; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke's enthusiasm for parks and recreation
20was infectious and instrumental in guiding his fellow

1commissioners and staff in a strategic and progressive
2direction to provide superior parks, facilities, and programs
3during the highest growth period of the district's 50 years of
4existence; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate Fred C. Hohnke on 30 years of service to the
8Woodridge Park District and having the community center named
9in his honor; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Fred Hohnke as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
