HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the East St. Louis High 
4School football team, the Flyers, on winning the 2019 Class 6A 
5Illinois High School Association State (IHSA) Football 
6Championship; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Flyers claimed their school's ninth football 
8championship with a 43 to 21 win over Prairie Ridge High School 
9(Crystal Lake) at Huskie Stadium on the campus of Northern 
10Illinois University in Dekalb; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The Flyers compiled a perfect season of 14 wins 
12and zero losses on their way to their latest championship; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The Flyers are led by Head Coach Darren Sunkett 
14and Assistant Coach Terry Hawthorne; and
  
 
  
15    WHEREAS, East St. Louis High School is the first IHSA 
16school to win the state championship in basketball, football, 
17and track and field in the same calender year, putting the City 
18of Champions into a class all by itself; therefore, be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
20HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we congratulate the East St. Louis High School football team, 
2the Flyers, on winning the 2019 Class 6A Illinois High School 
3Association State Football Championship, and we wish them many 
4more successful seasons; and be it further

6presented to the coaches and members of the Flyers as a symbol 
7of our respect and esteem.
