HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eileen
4(Solomon) Rand of Peoria, who passed away on August 21, 2020;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Eileen Rand was born in Brooklyn, New York to
7Milton and Evelyn (Goldstein) Solomon on July 12, 1930; she
8moved with her family to Miami Beach, Florida in the early
91940s; she graduated from Miami Beach High School in 1948; she
10married Harold Rose in 1949, and their union had two children,
11Hilary Ann and Robin David; she later married Jay Milton Rand
12on August 28, 1959, and he preceded her in death in December of
132015; she and Jay had two children together, Andrew Alan and
14Evelyn Erin; she moved to Peoria in January of 2020; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Eileen Rand managed the office and practice of Dr.
16Melvin Platt for 35 years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Eileen Rand volunteered for summer programs at
18Beth Moshe's Camp Avir on West Dixie Highway in North Miami;
19she donated many hours to the Sisterhood, raising funds to
20dedicate a new Beth Moshe in Sans Souci, where she served as
21president of the Sisterhood; along with her husband Jay, she
22was a dedicated volunteer for United Cerebral Palsy of Miami;

2    WHEREAS, Eileen Rand enjoyed making pottery, playing the
3piano, spending time in her garden, and helping her children
4exercise their creativity; she loved cooking and was always
5willing to make kugel for anyone who asked; she also loved
6traveling with her husband and spending time with lifelong
7friends from Miami Beach, Florida and South Florida; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Eileen Rand was preceded in death by her husband,
9Jay Milton Rand, and her brother, Leslie David Solomon; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Eileen Rand was the mother of Hilary Ann Rose,
11Robin David Rose (Karen), Andrew Alan Rand (Sid), and Dr.
12Evelyn Erin Rand Buzzella; the grandmother of Ericka, Naomi,
13Micah, Jonathan, Sequoia, Jasmine, and Trey; the
14great-grandmother of Alex, Kylie Anne, Aidan, and William; the
15dear friend of Bea Bernstein (Burt), Sylvia Kanner (Benny),
16Fran and Paul Cavari, Bobbie and Don Mendelson, and Seena Kuby
17(Jerry); and the loving pet owner of Doxy, Rasputin, Izzy,
18Aggie, and Minnie; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21we mourn the passing of Eileen (Solomon) Rand and extend our
22sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Eileen Rand as an expression of our
4deepest sympathy.
