Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Allows the Secretary of State to issue Law Enforcement Medal of Honor license plates. Provides that the plates shall display the Law Enforcement Medal of Honor.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 3-609.2 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-609.2 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 3-609.2. Law Enforcement Medal of Honor license |
| 8 | | plates. |
| 9 | | (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the |
| 10 | | Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and applications |
| 11 | | made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may issue Law |
| 12 | | Enforcement Medal of Honor license plates to residents of this |
| 13 | | State who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by the |
| 14 | | Secretary. The special Law Enforcement Medal of Honor plate |
| 15 | | issued under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger |
| 16 | | vehicles of the first division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles |
| 17 | | of the second division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. |
| 18 | | Plates issued under this Section shall expire according to the |
| 19 | | staggered multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1. |
| 20 | | (b) The plates shall display the Law Enforcement Medal of |
| 21 | | Honor. In all other respects, the design, color, and format of |
| 22 | | the plates shall be within the discretion of the Secretary. The |
| 23 | | Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be |
