SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
410 ILCS 535/17.1 new

    Amends the Vital Records Act. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall issue a certificate of birth with the identity of the attending physician redacted upon request by: the person named on the certificate of birth, if the person is 18 years of age or older; a parent of the person named on the certificate of birth; the legal representative of the person named on the certificate of birth; or an attorney at law authorized in writing by the person named on the certificate of birth. Effective 120 days after becoming law.

1    AN ACT concerning health.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Vital Records Act is amended by adding
5Section 17.1 as follows:
 
6    (410 ILCS 535/17.1 new)
7    Sec. 17.1. Redacted certificate of birth. The Department
8shall issue a certificate of birth with the identity of the
9attending physician redacted upon request by:
10        (1) the person named on the certificate of birth, if
11    the person is 18 years of age or older;
12        (2) a parent of the person named on the certificate of
13    birth;
14        (3) the legal representative of the person named on the
15    certificate of birth; or
16        (4) an attorney at law authorized in writing by the
17    person named on the certificate of birth.
 
18    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect 120 days
19after becoming law.
