|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Dolores Marie "Dee" (Seeman) Bertino, who |
4 | | passed away on January 20, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dee Bertino was born in Joliet to LeRoy and Minnie |
6 | | (Giacoletto) Seeman on January 28, 1931; she graduated from St. |
7 | | Francis Academy in 1949; she married Raymond J. Bertino at the |
8 | | Church of St. Anthony on August 19, 1950; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, For many years, Dee Bertino was the secretary for |
10 | | the Director of Special Education of the Joliet Grade Schools; |
11 | | and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, After her retirement, Dee Bertino was a familiar |
13 | | face and volunteer at the schools where her daughters pursued |
14 | | their careers; she was named a United Way Volunteer of the Year |
15 | | for her work at the Joseph Fisher School operated by SOWIC and |
16 | | received a CAPE Award from Ridge Elementary, PSD202; she was a |
17 | | member of the Church of St. Anthony and the Cathedral of St. |
18 | | Raymond parishes; when her children attended St. Raymond |
19 | | School, she served as President of the Parents group, on the |
20 | | Cathedral Parish Board, and was active in school and parish |
21 | | life; she was involved in the initial efforts to form the |
22 | | Cathedral Area Preservation Association; in recent years, Ray |

1 | | and Dee were strong supporters of the work at Morning Star |
2 | | Mission; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Dee Bertino will be remembered for her kindness, |
4 | | generosity, friendliness, and devotion to her family, as well |
5 | | as for the value she placed on education and service to others; |
6 | | she was an avid reader and had amazing Scrabble skills; first |
7 | | and foremost, she was a mom, a role model, and a friend who |
8 | | championed her daughters throughout their lives; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Dee Bertino was preceded in death by her parents; |
10 | | her brother, Donald Seeman; her sisters, JoAnn Soave and Sharon |
11 | | (Jim) Harrier; and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, |
12 | | Edith and Bob Irwin, George and Lee Bertino, Bob and Ann |
13 | | Bertino, Betty and LaVern Kren, Tom and Bev Bertino, Larry |
14 | | Bertino, and Joe and Gerry Bertino; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Dee Bertino is survived by her husband, Ray; her |
16 | | children, Lynn Marie and Doug Neville, Cynthia Brown, and Lori |
17 | | and Dennis House; her grandchildren, Jennifer and Brad Carlock, |
18 | | Michael Brown and Vidya Sathyamoorthy, Kevin House, Keith |
19 | | House, and John and Kim Neville; her great-grandchildren, |
20 | | Matthew and Natalie Carlock and Sara and Connor Neville; her |
21 | | many nieces and nephews; and Jim and Mary Ann Bertino Crater, |
22 | | Ruth Bertino, and her "sister," Ellen Seeman; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
3 | | Dolores Marie "Dee" (Seeman) Bertino and extend our sincere |
4 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
5 | | her; and be it further

6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Dee Bertino as an expression of our |
8 | | deepest sympathy.
