SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles Joseph "Chuck" Novotny, who
4passed away on January 19, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chuck Novotny was born in Hinsdale to Charles and
6Ruth Novotny on June 13, 1960; he graduated from Downers Grove
7South High School in 1978 and North Central College in 1982; he
8married Terri Otten in Bartlett on July 12, 1986 and received
9his Masters of Guidance Counseling from Concordia University
10Chicago in 1991; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chuck Novotny was a social studies and 6th grade
12teacher at Westfield Junior High in Bloomingdale and a guidance
13counselor at East Leyden High School in Franklin Park; he had a
14passion for coaching and coached Little League, middle school,
15high school, and travel baseball, basketball, and soccer; his
16influence on his players earned him his nickname, The Legend;
17he was also known as "Mr. Chuck" to the neighborhood kids,
18where he played an important part in their lives; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Chuck Novotny enjoyed traveling to watch his boys
20play soccer and music; his road trips took him to music venues
21as far as Minneapolis and to soccer stadiums from Denver to
22eastern Canada, where he was always their biggest fans; he was

1a member of Saint John Neumann Catholic Church; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Chuck Novotny was preceded in death by his
3grandparents, Charles and Jennie Novotny and Joe and Dorothy
4Vlasaty; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chuck Novotny is survived by his wife of 32 years,
6Terri; his sons, Corey (Brittany Rohling), Nick (Corrie
7Strommen), and Mike (Taylor Smith); his parents; his siblings,
8Janice Weigand (Brian Murphy) and Joe Novotny (Stacy Novotny);
9and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Charles Joseph "Chuck" Novotny and extend our sincere
13condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
14him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Chuck Novotny as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
