SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Maurice "Moe" Arnold, who passed away on
4March 19, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Maurice Arnold was born to Joseph and Ruth Pearce
6Arnold in Macomb on May 18, 1920; he graduated from Macomb High
7School and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the
8University of Illinois in 1948; he married Jeanette Mennel in
9Quincy on January 25, 1944; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Maurice Arnold was a 1st Lieutenant in the United
11States Army Signal Corps during World War II; he served in the
12European Theater of Operations for three years and in the
13United States for one year; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Maurice Arnold was co-owner of the former Auto
15Acres Used Auto Parts in Milan; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Maurice Arnold was a past president of the Milan
17Chamber of Commerce and Auto & Truck Recyclers of Illinois
18(ATRI) and a national past president of the Automotive
19Dismantlers and Recycling Association of America (ADRA); he was
20ordained as a deacon in the Catholic Church in June of 1982 and
21celebrated 35 years of service; when he lived in Arizona, he

1served as deacon at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sun
2City West; he enjoyed organic gardening, fishing, and hunting;
3he taught his five sons to hunt duck and rabbits; in his later
4years, he attended daily Mass; at the age of 93, he wrote and
5published his autobiography; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Maurice Arnold was preceded in death by his
7parents; his wife, Jeanette; his sisters, Pauline Grainger, Kay
8Bartosch, and Jean Lee; and his brothers, Earl and Charley
9Arnold; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Maurice Arnold is survived by his sons, Stan
11(Nancy) Arnold, Joseph (Crystal) Arnold, Philip (Karen)
12Arnold, Peter Arnold, and Andrew (Mary) Arnold; his
13grandchildren, Christopher (Caytie) Arnold, Stacy (Jon) Blair,
14Daniel (Ronda) Arnold, Susan (Tony) VanDeWalle, Jennifer
15(Nicholas) Swanson, Diane Arnold, Ashley Arnold, and Joseph
16"Joey" Arnold; his 13 great-grandchildren; his brother,
17Francis Arnold; his sisters, Rita Richbark and Patricia Arnold;
18and his many nieces, nephews, and other family members;
19therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22Maurice "Moe" Arnold and extend our sincere condolences to his
23family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
