SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jennifer M. Zorn-Sargent of Wheeling, who
4passed away on April 12, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jennifer Zorn-Sargent attended Conant High
6School, where she was inspired by longtime English and theater
7teacher Julie Nelson; she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English
8and Theater from Eastern Illinois University and a master's
9degree in reading from Roosevelt University; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jennifer Zorn-Sargent was a National Board
11Certified Teacher and a passionate educator with a heart for
12English Language learners and those in need of reading help;
13she began her career at Fremd and Bartlett high schools; she
14began teaching English at Wheeling High School in 2003; at
15Wheeling, her biggest impact was in speech and theater; she
16directed some of its most popular musicals and empowered her
17students to succeed through the fine and performing arts; she
18served as moderator of the National Honor Society, as freshman
19class sponsor for student council, and as coach of the speech
20team; and
 
21    WHEREAS, At the district level, Jennifer Zorn-Sargent
22served as a leader for SAT and curricular workshops, as well as

1on the District 214 calendar committee and as a union
2representative for faculty and staff; she also mentored many
3student teachers; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jennifer Zorn-Sargent was a caring, loving, and
5diligent mother; she helped manage her children's schedules as
6members of the Cub Scouts, hockey teams, softball teams, and
7soccer teams, often becoming a manager or team mom; she was an
8avid fan of Chicago sports, attending many Bears, Blackhawks,
9Cubs, and Schaumburg Boomers games; she will be remembered for
10her support, her positivity, and her kindness; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jennifer Zorn-Sargent was the loving wife of John
12C. Sargent III, the cherished mother of John Carter Sargent IV
13and Kaileigh Anne Sargent, the dearest daughter of Fred and
14Nancy Zorn, the dear sister of Matthew Joseph (Stacy) Zorn, the
15loving goddaughter of Bill and Linda Edwards, and the fond
16niece, aunt, cousin, and friend to many; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Jennifer M. Zorn-Sargent and extend our sincere condolences to
20her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
21further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
