SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jesse Willard Parker of Normal, who
4passed away on July 14, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jesse Parker was born in Baldwin County, Alabama
6to Coey E. and Cornelia Thomley Parker on July 2, 1927; during
7World War II, he joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 17
8and served on a ship off the coast of France during the
9invasion; he served in the United States Army during the Korean
10War; he married Dorothy Eswine in Evansville, Indiana on April
1125, 1953; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jesse Parker sold fertilizer for VEE CEE after his
13army service; he was then hired as a letter carrier for the
14United States Postal Service; he delivered mail for most of his
15working life and also served as the Vehicle Operations
16Maintenance Assistant (VOMA); he retired as the postmaster of
17the Lexington Post Office; he continued to serve in the
18National Guard, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jesse Parker was a member of the American Legion
20and Calvary Baptist Church in Normal; he was a 33rd Degree
21Mason and a member of the Mohammed Shrine and the Eastern Star;
22he was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and hunter; he was a

1gifted storyteller; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Jesse Parker was preceded in death by his wife,
3Dorothy; his sisters, Louise Lucas and Annie; and his brothers,
4Coey Jr. and William; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jesse Parker is survived by his daughter, Sandra
6"Sandy" Parker; his sisters, Ida Belle Monks and Lil Morton;
7his brother, Bob (Charlene); his half-sister, Judy Woods; and
8many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Jesse Willard Parker and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Jesse Parker as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
