|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Margaret J. "Peggie" Stromberg of |
4 | | Marengo, who passed away on February 11, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Peggie Stromberg was born in Urbana to Richard W. |
6 | | and Marjorie A. Thomas on August 28, 1945; she grew up on her |
7 | | parents' farm near What Cheer, Iowa; she attended Drake |
8 | | University in Des Moines, Iowa; she married Alan F. Stromberg |
9 | | of Chicago on March 2, 1974; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Peggie Stromberg spent the first decade of her |
11 | | marriage at home, taking pride in providing a loving household |
12 | | and raising her children to be kind, responsible citizens; as |
13 | | they became more independent, she worked at Marengo High School |
14 | | as an aide, spent several years as a reporter and editor at |
15 | | local newspapers, and coached her son Eric's winning soccer |
16 | | teams; she spent 22 years as the executive director of the |
17 | | Elgin Public Museum of Natural History and Anthropology until |
18 | | her recent retirement; she established a reputation as a |
19 | | respected member of the museum community throughout the Midwest |
20 | | and, nationally, served on industry committees and spoke at |
21 | | conferences; and
|
22 | | WHEREAS, Peggie Stromberg served for 25 years as a board |
|

1 | | member and president of the Marengo Public Library as well as |
2 | | the Northern Illinois Library System; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Peggie Stromberg was an avid reader, a lifelong |
4 | | learner, and a talented seamstress and quilter; she was known |
5 | | for her wry wit and forthright opinions; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Peggie Stromberg is survived by her husband, Alan; |
7 | | her son, Eric; her daughter, Meghan; her grandchildren, |
8 | | Sabrina, Magnus, and Estelle; her stepson, Kenneth; her |
9 | | step-grandchildren, Ryan Finney, Stephan Lefebvre, Kelsey |
10 | | Stromberg, and Caitlin Ashdown; her great-grandchildren, |
11 | | Jakob, Mikah, Ryleigh, Carter, Evelyn, and Aisley; her mother, |
12 | | Marjorie; her brothers, Steven, James, and Michael; and her |
13 | | numerous nephews and nieces; therefore, be it
|
14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | Margaret J. "Peggie" Stromberg and extend our sincere |
17 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
18 | | her; and be it further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Peggie Stromberg as an expression of |
21 | | our deepest sympathy.
