2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Melvin Fredrick Schroeder of Pesotum, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on April 4, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder was born to Ernest and Irene | ||||||
6 | (Kresin) Schroeder of Sadorus on February 17, 1936; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Unity High School in 1953; he attended Illinois | ||||||
8 | State University; he married Shirley Augsburger at Trinity | ||||||
9 | Lutheran Church in Peoria on August 4, 1957; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder farmed his entire life in the | ||||||
11 | Sadorus-Pesotum area; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder served his community as a member | ||||||
13 | on the Champaign County Regional School Board, the Champaign | ||||||
14 | County Mental Health Board, and the Champaign County Zoning | ||||||
15 | Board of Appeals; he was also the past president of the | ||||||
16 | Champaign County Farm Bureau; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder was a lifelong member of St. | ||||||
18 | Paul's Lutheran Church in Sadorus, where he enjoyed teaching | ||||||
19 | Sunday school; alongside his wife, he served as a 4-H leader | ||||||
20 | for the Pesotum Pioneers for many years; he was a lifetime | ||||||
21 | member of the Unity Athletic Alumni Association; and

1 | WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder will be remembered as someone who | ||||||
2 | especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and | ||||||
3 | traveling with his wife, as well as greeting and talking with | ||||||
4 | anyone he might encounter along the way; he will be missed by | ||||||
5 | his family and friends; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder is survived by his wife of 62 | ||||||
7 | years, Shirley Schroeder; his sons, Chris Schroeder, Randy | ||||||
8 | Schroeder, and Jon (Susan) Schroeder; his grandchildren, Jenna | ||||||
9 | Linton, Jason Schroeder, Justin (Ericka) Schroeder, and Noah | ||||||
10 | Schroeder; his great-grandchild, Tucker Schroeder; his sister, | ||||||
11 | Lois (Don) Wood; his sister-in-law, Phyliss (Don) Willems; and | ||||||
12 | his brother-in-law, Carl Johnson; therefore, be it
| ||||||
13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | Melvin Fredrick Schroeder and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
16 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
17 | further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Melvin Schroeder as an expression of | ||||||
