SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jerrold Calvin "JJ" Johnson of
4Springfield, who passed away on October 24, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson was born to Johnnie and Georgia
6Mae Johnson in Oak Grove, Louisiana on August 11, 1936; after
7serving in the Army Reserves for two years, he entered the
8United States Air Force and attained the rank of a Master
9Sergeant; he proudly served his country for 22 years; he loved
10learning and earned three associate degrees, two bachelor's
11degrees, a master's degree, and eventually a Ph.D.; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson worked for the Illinois
13Department of Economic Development for 20 years, retiring in
142012 as a Manpower Planner 3; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson was a dedicated member of Pilgrim
16Rest Baptist Church where he sang in the men's choir and the
17senior choir; he volunteered at the Boys and Girls Clubs of
18America and mentored many young men into adulthood; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson enjoyed his free time by avidly
20consuming world news and events to expand his knowledge base;

1    WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson was preceded in death by his
2parents; his sisters, Percilla Patrick and Earline Clay; his
3daughter, Monique Johnson; and his long-time companion, Gloria
4Jean Madison Jordan; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson is survived by his son, Enrico
6(Cathy) Johnson, from his earlier marriage to Gurtha Rene Lee;
7his daughters, Carla Renee Jordan, Crystal Lynn Jordan, and
8Csylii Ann Jordan; his 13 grandchildren, his nine
9great-grandchildren; and his several nieces and nephews;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Jerrold Calvin "JJ" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences
14to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Jerrold Johnson as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
