SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Nardini, who passed away on June
422, 2020 at the age of 85; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Nardini spent most of his life in Schiller
6Park; he graduated from East Leyden High School in 1952; he was
7drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957, where he served at Fort
8Sheridan; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Nardini worked at the Chicago-Sun Times
10for 56 years, where he worked his way up from messenger to
11director of classified advertising; as director, he built
12relationships with small local businesses to provide
13reasonably-priced newspaper advertisements; he received the
14prestigious Marshall Field Award for his salesmanship in 1976;
15he retired in 2006; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Richard Nardini served as a board member of the
17Leyden High School District 212 for 36 years; he served 29 of
18those years as president; during his tenure, he worked towards
19securing opportunities for every student that attended the
20district's two high schools; he retired from the board in 2005;
21and

1    WHEREAS, Richard Nardini was a loyal volunteer at Hines
2Veterans Hospital for much of his life; he was an avid golfer
3and a respected community leader; he will be remembered for his
4honesty, fairness, compassion, and mentorship; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Nardini is survived by his wife of 63
6years, Mabel Nardini; his sons, Richard Nardini, Ronald
7Nardini, and Robert Nardini; his daughters, Donna Mueller and
8Diane Weigt; his brothers, Ronald Nardini, Eugene Nardini, and
9Charles "Chuck" Nardini; his six grandchildren; and his two
10great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Richard Nardini and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Richard Nardini as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
