2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Urban Renewal Consolidation Act of 1961 is |
5 | | amended by changing Section 4 as follows:
|

The
The governing body of any municipality having |
8 | | more than 500,000
inhabitants, as determined by the last |
9 | | preceding Federal census, and in
which there exist both a land |
10 | | clearance commission and a conservation
board, by ordinance |
11 | | adopted by a majority of its members, may determine
that there |
12 | | is need to consolidate the functions of the land clearance
|
13 | | commission and of the conservation board in a single body and |
14 | | provide for
the creation of a Department of Urban Renewal to |
15 | | operate within the
boundaries of such municipality pursuant to |
16 | | the provisions of this Act. |
