SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
210 ILCS 45/2-218 new

    Amends the Nursing Home Care Act. Requires facilities to establish and maintain an infection and communicable disease prevention and control policy designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment and to help prevent the development and transmission of infections and communicable diseases. Provides that the policy must include, at a minimum, a system for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and other specified individuals. Provides that the policy shall be made available to the Department of Public Health upon request. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding
5Section 2-218 as follows:
 
6    (210 ILCS 45/2-218 new)
7    Sec. 2-218. Infection and communicable disease prevention
8and control policy. A facility shall establish and maintain an
9infection and communicable disease prevention and control
10policy designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable
11environment and to help prevent the development and
12transmission of infections and communicable diseases. The
13infection and communicable disease prevention and control
14policy must include, at a minimum, a system for preventing,
15identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling
16infections and communicable diseases for all residents, staff,
17volunteers, visitors, and other individuals providing services
18under a contractual arrangement with the facility. The
19infection and communicable disease prevention and control
20policy shall be made available to the Department upon request.
 
21    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22becoming law.
