AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1976

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1976, AS AMENDED,
3by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4following:
 
5    "Section 5. "An Act concerning regulation", approved
6August 24, 2021, Public Act 102-578, is amended by changing
7Section 99 as follows:
 
8    (P.A. 102-578, Sec. 99)
9    Sec. 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
102022 December 31, 2022.

12    Section 10. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by
13changing Section 1655 as follows:

3    Sec. 1655. Policy.
4    (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Code,
5travel insurance shall be classified and filed for purposes of
6rates and forms under an inland marine line of insurance;
7however, including travel insurance that provides coverage for
8sickness, accident, disability, or death occurring during
9travel, either exclusively, or in conjunction with related
10coverages of emergency evacuation or repatriation of remains,
11or incidental limited property and casualty benefits such as
12baggage or trip cancellation may be filed under either an
13accident and health line of insurance or an inland marine line
14of insurance.
15    (b) Travel insurance may be in the form of an individual,
16group, master, or blanket policy.
17    (c) Eligibility and underwriting standards for travel
18insurance may be developed and provided based on travel
19protection plans designed for individual or identified
20marketing or distribution channels, provided those standards
21also meet this State's underwriting standards for inland
22marine.
