| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2574

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2574 on page 1, | ||||||
| 3 | line 19, after "responsible.", by inserting: | ||||||
| 4 | "A paramedic or firefighter may use the authority under this | ||||||
| 5 | Section only when acting in accordance with policy established | ||||||
| 6 | by the employing fire department or fire protection district. | ||||||
| 7 | This policy shall require, at a minimum, that a paramedic or | ||||||
| 8 | firefighter who removes an animal from a motor vehicle under | ||||||
| 9 | this Section shall remain on the scene with the animal until an | ||||||
| 10 | animal control officer or a law enforcement officer can take | ||||||
| 11 | possession of the animal. If the owner takes possession, the | ||||||
| 12 | paramedic or firefighter must report the incident to local law | ||||||
| 13 | enforcement or animal control.".
