| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2574

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2574 on page 1, | ||||||
| 3 | line 19, after "responsible.", by inserting: | ||||||
| 4 | "Except as may be required to respond to an intervening or | ||||||
| 5 | subsequent call for emergency assistance, a paramedic or | ||||||
| 6 | firefighter who removes an animal from a motor vehicle under | ||||||
| 7 | this Section shall remain on the scene with the animal until an | ||||||
| 8 | animal control officer or a law enforcement officer can take | ||||||
| 9 | possession of the animal. If the owner takes possession, the | ||||||
| 10 | paramedic or firefighter must report the incident to local law | ||||||
| 11 | enforcement or animal control. A paramedic or firefighter may | ||||||
| 12 | use the authority under this Section only when acting in | ||||||
| 13 | accordance with policy established by the employing fire | ||||||
| 14 | department or fire protection district.".
