SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
40 ILCS 5/1-155 new

    Amends the General Provisions Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that beginning on the effective date of the amendatory Act, the minimum age at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement annuity or pension under any Article of the Code shall be increased by one year and, beginning 5 years after the effective date of the amendatory Act, the minimum age at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement annuity or pension under any Article of the Code shall be increased by one additional year. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding
5Section 1-155 as follows:
 
6    (40 ILCS 5/1-155 new)
7    Sec. 1-155. Retirement age; increase. Notwithstanding any
8other provision of law, beginning on the effective date of
9this amendatory Act of the 102nd General Assembly, the minimum
10age at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement
11annuity or pension under any Article of this Code shall be
12increased by one year and, beginning 5 years after the
13effective date of this amendatory Act of the 102nd General
14Assembly, shall be increased by one additional year.
 
15    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16becoming law.
