AN ACT concerning criminal law.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
This Act may be cited as the
Resentencing Task Force Act.
The State is committed to
ensuring that sentences of imprisonment continue to advance
the interest of justice and promote public safety. The task
force is created by recognizing that in this State, once a
person is sentenced, there are few meaningful opportunities

study innovative ways to reduce the prison population in
Illinois from initiations of resentencing motions filed by
State's Attorneys, the Illinois Department of Corrections and
the judicial branch.
The task force further aims to

Department of Corrections and other members of law enforcement
may be affected by the reduction of the prison population.
