AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5405

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5405 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
534-18.78 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/34-18.78 new)
7    Sec. 34-18.78. School administrator salary schedule.
8    (a) The salary schedule for school administrators in the
9school district must be set so that:
10        (1) the average hourly rate of pay for an assistant
11    principal is at least 7.5% greater than the average hourly
12    rate of a regular teacher with more than 5 years of
13    experience; and
14        (2) the average hourly rate of a principal is at least
15    22.5% greater than the average hourly rate of an assistant
16    principal.

1    The school administrator salary schedule must be based on
2the average hourly rates of all principals, assistant
3principals, and regular teachers employed by the district on
4the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 102nd General
5Assembly and on the effective date of each teacher contract
6entered into after the effective date of this amendatory Act
7of the 102nd General Assembly. The school administrator salary
8schedule shall be set so that whenever pay increases occur for
9teachers, school administrators shall receive the same
10percentage increase in salary as those teachers.
11    (b) The initial school administrator salary schedule under
12this Section must take effect within 2 months after the
13effective date of this amendatory Act of the 102nd General
14Assembly. Each subsequent school administrator salary schedule
15must take effect within one month after the effective date of
16each teacher contract entered into after the effective date of
17this amendatory Act of the 102nd General Assembly.
18    (c) No teacher who becomes a school administrator shall
19lose non-salary compensation, such as vacation and sick day
20accrual, health care options, or retirement benefits. Any such
21non-salary compensation that has been denied to a school
22administrator prior to the effective date of this amendatory
23Act of the 102nd General Assembly must be restored if teachers
24have such non-salary compensation.".
