17 | | (9) two representatives of an organization that seek |
18 | | to eliminate employment barriers and advance the skills |
19 | | for immigrant professionals appointed by the Secretary; |
20 | | (10) a representative of an organization that recruits |
21 | | immigrants and foreign students to work in health related |
22 | | areas; focusing on raising the awareness of social, |
23 | | political, and economic issues faced related to immigrant |
24 | | health appointed by the Secretary; and |
25 | | (11) a representative of an organization that seeks to |
26 | | increase the number of internationally educated medical |

1 | | professionals for practice within diverse communities |
2 | | appointed by the Secretary.

3 | | (b) If a vacancy occurs in the Task Force, the vacancy |
4 | | shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment |
5 | | for the remainder of the unexpired term.
|
6 | | (c) The Task Force shall meet once every 2 months, |
7 | | indefinitely, until the Task Force votes to dissolve itself.
|
8 | | Nothing in this Section shall prohibit the Task Force from |
9 | | meeting more often if it deems it necessary to do so. |
10 | | (d) The Department shall provide administrative support to |
11 | | the Task Force.
|
12 | | (e) The Task Force shall only meet once a majority of |
13 | | members are appointed.
|
14 | | (f) The Secretary of Financial and Professional |
15 | | Regulation, or the Secretary's designee, shall be the chair of |
16 | | the Task Force.
|
17 | | Section 15. Subject matter of the Task Force. The subject |
18 | | matter of the Task Force is intended to:
|
19 | | (1) address health care professionals, broadly defined |
20 | | to include physicians and nurses, but also include other |
21 | | professionals as the need arises;
|
22 | | (2) be focused on professionals who are already |
23 | | licensed and practicing in another country and are seeking |
24 | | licensure in the State; and
|
25 | | (3) not include students.

1 | | Section 20. Report.
|
2 | | (a) The Task Force shall prepare an annual report that |
3 | | summarizes its work and makes recommendations resulting from |
4 | | its study.
|
5 | | (b) The report shall address barriers to licensure and |
6 | | practice for health care professionals in the State in |
7 | | professions to be determined by the Task Force. The Task Force |
8 | | shall address strategies for reducing barriers to licensure |
9 | | and practice for internationally-licensed health care |
10 | | professionals.
|
11 | | (c) The Task Force shall submit the report of its findings |
12 | | and recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly.
|
13 | | (d) The Task Force shall submit the first report one year |
14 | | after the first meeting of the Task Force.
