Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act and the Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that, notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, hospitals organized or licensed under the Acts shall not require a patient in the hospital's emergency room to pay a copayment before receiving treatment for the patient's medical emergency.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is |
| 5 | | amended by adding Section 8g as follows:
|
| 6 | | (110 ILCS 330/8g new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 8g. Emergency room treatment; copayment. |
| 8 | | Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the |
| 9 | | University of Illinois Hospital shall not require a patient in |
| 10 | | a University of Illinois Hospital emergency room to pay a |
| 11 | | copayment before receiving treatment for the patient's medical |
| 12 | | emergency.

| 13 | | Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by |
| 14 | | adding Section 6.33 as follows:
