HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of 3rd
4generation volunteer firefighter Kody Michael Vanfossan of
5Christopher, who passed away while responding to a building
6fire on May 5, 2019; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was known for his kind heart and
8willingness to help others, and he had countless friends, both
9in and out of the fire service; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan made the ultimate sacrifice in
11defense of and in service to his community while responding to
12a six alarm fire with the Christopher Fire Department; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was preceded in death by his
14grandparents, Libero and Delphine Bartolotti, Mitch Wilkerson,
15Bob Adams, and Tom Vanfossan; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was survived by his son, Erik
17Michael Vanfossan; his parents; his brother; and his sister;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, The members of the 101st General Assembly offered
20their respect and esteem for the ultimate sacrifice paid by

1fallen firefighter Kody Vanfossan via House Resolution 361;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
5SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Illinois Route 148
6north of the City of Christopher at the city limits north of
7the intersection of Harrison Street and Highway 148 and south
8of the City of Christopher at the northeast intersection of
9Yellow Banks Road and Illinois Route 148 as the "Firefighter
10Kody M. Vanfossan Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
12is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
13State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
14giving notice of the name of "Firefighter Kody M. Vanfossan
15Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Kody Vanfossan, the City of
18Christopher, and the Secretary of the Illinois Department of
19Transportation.
