| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Hattie Lee | ||||||
| 4 | Cain-Fulton of Chicago, on the occasion of her 99th birthday; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton was born in Leflore County, | ||||||
| 7 | Mississippi to Alfred Cain and Ida Mae Ellis on February 6, | ||||||
| 8 | 1922; at the age of four, she moved with her family to the | ||||||
| 9 | North Side of Chicago before relocating to Chicago's South | ||||||
| 10 | Side; she graduated from DuSable High School and completed | ||||||
| 11 | nursing school; she married Joseph Fulton; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton worked at the University of | ||||||
| 13 | Chicago; she has volunteered with a number of organizations, | ||||||
| 14 | including the National Sarcoidosis Society and the Garage | ||||||
| 15 | Boys; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton is devoted to the duties and | ||||||
| 17 | responsibilities of motherhood; she has always administered | ||||||
| 18 | unwavering and unconditional love; even in tough times, she | ||||||
| 19 | has never hesitated to sacrifice her own comfort for the sake | ||||||
| 20 | of her family and others; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton is known for being a great | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | cook, a sharp dresser, and a devoted advocate for those in | ||||||
| 2 | need; she is always willing to provide anyone with a meal and | ||||||
| 3 | to donate her clothes and shoes to those who need it; she has | ||||||
| 4 | always been a source of great support by lending a hand so all | ||||||
| 5 | would know their worth, and she never turns anyone away; she | ||||||
| 6 | believes every heart needs a family, and she cares for those | ||||||
| 7 | whose hearts are longing for a family of their own; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton is affectionately called "big | ||||||
| 9 | mama" and "queen mother"; her life is a perfect example of | ||||||
| 10 | model citizenship and community leadership; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton has 14 children, 30 | ||||||
| 12 | grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 5 | ||||||
| 13 | great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 15 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 16 | we wish Hattie Lee Cain-Fulton a happy 99th birthday, and we | ||||||
| 17 | wish her many more healthy and happy years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to Hattie Cain-Fulton as an expression of our good | ||||||
| 20 | wishes.
