HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Section 3 of Article XIII of the Constitution of
3the State of Illinois provides that each State office holder
4shall take and subscribe to an oath of office by affirming that
5he or she will uphold the Constitution of the United States of
6America and the Constitution of the State of Illinois and
7faithfully discharge the duties of the office to the best of
8his or her ability; and
 
9    WHEREAS, On multiple documented occasions, Illinois State
10Representative Chris Miller has violated his oath to the
11Constitution of the United States of America and the
12Constitution of the State of Illinois by actively and publicly
13promoting the actions of an internationally recognized
14para-military hate group; and
 
15    WHEREAS, On January 6, 2021, Illinois State Representative
16Chris Miller participated, and publicly promoted his role, in
17a rally that led to a violent insurrection of the Capitol of
18the United States of America, which resulted in the death of
19United States citizens, including members of law enforcement;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Illinois State Representative Chris Miller
22continues to show no remorse for this blatant violation of his

1oath of office and has continued to publicly support The Three
2Percenters, a para-military, anti-government hate group
3identified by the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern
4Poverty Law Center as having the goal of overthrowing the
5United States government through violent revolutionary
6tactics; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Federal Bureau of Investigation has
8identified The Three Percenters as one of the groups that took
9part in the violent acts of insurrection against the United
10States of America on January 6, 2021; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Illinois State Representative Chris Miller has
12violated his oath to the Constitution of the United States of
13America and the Constitution of the State of Illinois and,
14through his continued actions and instigations, has created an
15environment that potentially threatens not only the sanctity
16of the Illinois General Assembly but also the safety of the
17members and their staff; and
 
18    WHEREAS, On March 3, 2021, a formal complaint was filed by
19members of the Illinois General Assembly referring this matter
20for investigation to the Illinois Legislative Inspector
21General; therefore, be it

1HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2we condemn the above conduct of Illinois State Representative
3Chris Miller.
