2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, | ||||||
4 | Inc. (CMT) of Springfield on its 75th anniversary and its | ||||||
5 | strong legacy of stability and longevity as a company; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, CMT began in Springfield in 1946 as three | ||||||
7 | partners and a dream; starting in a small, second-floor office | ||||||
8 | with no air conditioning, friends and civil engineers Len | ||||||
9 | Crawford, Pat Murphy, and Ray Tilly began CMT in the aftermath | ||||||
10 | of World War II; the friends had the idea that engineering | ||||||
11 | could significantly improve our country's post-war | ||||||
12 | infrastructure; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Though CMT has expanded throughout the Midwest | ||||||
14 | and Southeast, it is still headquartered in Springfield with | ||||||
15 | its original name; and

16 | WHEREAS, A lot has changed since 1946 and CMT's humble | ||||||
17 | beginnings; now, it has more than 20 locations across the | ||||||
18 | country; however, the one thing that has remained constant is | ||||||
19 | the company's dedication to its employees and local | ||||||
20 | communities; and

21 | WHEREAS, For 75 years, CMT has strived to provide superior |

1 | infrastructure solutions and to be responsive to the needs and | ||||||
2 | expectations of its clients, all while fostering growth and | ||||||
3 | development for its employees; currently, the engineering | ||||||
4 | consulting firm focuses its planning, engineering, design, and | ||||||
5 | construction expertise in the areas of aviation, rail, | ||||||
6 | environmental and wetlands services, surface transportation, | ||||||
7 | municipal and civil architecture and construction, and | ||||||
8 | leveraging technology for the benefit of its clients; and

9 | WHEREAS, CMT has received recognition for its work over | ||||||
10 | the years, including being named the 2020 Large Firm of the | ||||||
11 | Year by the American Council of Engineering Companies-Illinois | ||||||
12 | Chapter (ACEC-IL), the 2014 Design Firm of the Year by ENR | ||||||
13 | Midwest, the Illinois Society of Professional Engineer | ||||||
14 | (ISPE)'s Best Large Firm to Work For in 2018, and many more; | ||||||
15 | and

16 | WHEREAS, CMT has proudly advocated for the communities in | ||||||
17 | which it works, with efforts extending from the local, such as | ||||||
18 | donating and volunteering time to charitable organizations | ||||||
19 | like the United Way, to the global, including supporting | ||||||
20 | college students in Engineers without Borders and promoting | ||||||
21 | STEM initiatives for students of all ages; beyond delivering | ||||||
22 | value to clients, it has shown a commitment to bringing value | ||||||
23 | to its local and international communities; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
2 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | we congratulate Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. on its 75th | ||||||
4 | anniversary and wish the company 75 more years of success; and | ||||||
5 | be it further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to CMT, Inc. as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
