HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Kessler has dedicated her more than 35
3year career to promoting and preserving parks and recreation
4on the regional, state, and national levels; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Kessler currently serves the community
6as the executive director of the McHenry County Conservation
7District; while serving McHenry County, she has overseen many
8successful endeavors, including a successful $73 million
9voter-approved referendum, the protection of 5,600 acres of
10land, the opening of 14 sites with public access and outdoor
11amenities, the addition of 12 miles of regional trails, the
12welcoming of over 1 million annual site visitors, and the
13opening of the Lost Valley Visitor Center, which is the
14county's first gold-level LEED-certified public building; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Continuing her commitment to McHenry County,
16Elizabeth Kessler serves as an advisor to the McHenry County
17Conservation Foundation, sits on the board of Visit McHenry
18County, and serves as chair of Chicago Wilderness; she is a
19past member of the board of directors of the Park and
20Recreation Administration, past president of the National
21Recreation and Park Association, and past chair of the
22Illinois Park and Recreation Association; she served as the
232020 chair of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association

1Forest Preserve and Conservation District Task Force and as a
2member of the Illinois Association of Conservation and Forest
3Preserve Districts; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Illinois Park and Recreation Association
5recently honored Elizabeth Kessler with the Robert Artz
6Lifetime Achievement Award to recognize her decades of service
7and commitment to parks, recreation, and conservation in
8Illinois; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we congratulate Elizabeth Kessler for receiving the Robert
12Artz Lifetime Achievement Award and thank her for her many
13years of promoting conservation in Illinois; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Elizabeth Kessler as a symbol of our esteem and
16respect.
