HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are delighted to congratulate Knight's Action
4Park of Springfield on the occasion of its 91st anniversary;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Knight's Action Park was founded in 1930 by
7George Knight Sr. after he spent several years touring the
8country as the caddy for four time U.S. Open winner Willy
9Anderson; and
 
10    WHEREAS, George Knight Jr. and his wife Audrey introduced
11an archery range in 1951 and later opened a family
12entertainment center; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Knight's Action Park spans 60 acres along I-72 on
14the south side of Springfield and has been managed by three
15generations of the Knight family; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Over the years, Knight's Action Park has expanded
17to include a waterpark, a pub, and the popular drive-in movie
18theater; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Knight's Action Park employs 200 seasonal workers
20and 10 permanent employees and provides youth throughout our

1community with their first job and countless memories that
2will last them a lifetime; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Knight's Action Park was deeply affected by the
4Covid-19 pandemic, but due to support from programs like the
5Paycheck Protection Plan and the support of the Springfield
6community, the Knight family is planning to reopen stronger
7than ever in the near future; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Knight's Action Park has provided families
9throughout central Illinois with many enjoyable summer outings
10over the past 91 years and will continue to do so as the Knight
11family works to reopen; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate Knight's Action Park and the entire Knight
15family on 91 years of operation and for providing a place for
16families to enjoy time together; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the Knight family as a symbol of our esteem and
19respect.
