HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Fire Chief Craig A. Haigh
4on the occasion of his retirement after 33 years of service;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Haigh began his fire service career in 1983
7as a volunteer in his hometown of Hampton and served as
8Hampton's volunteer fire chief from 1991 to 1995; he was hired
9full time as a firefighter with the Rock Island Fire
10Department in 1988; he ultimately was appointed as their first
11EMS coordinator and developed and implemented the department's
12paramedic program; he left Hampton and Rock Island in 1995 and
13moved to North Carolina to become the first paid fire chief of
14the King Volunteer Fire Department, where he was tasked with
15transitioning the all-volunteer department into a combination
16agency (volunteer and paid employees); he returned to Illinois
17in 2002 to serve as fire chief for Hanover Park; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Chief Haigh, in addition to his duties as Hanover
19Park's fire chief, has served as the interim village manager
20and the director of emergency management; he created the
21Inspectional Services Division, developed, implemented, and
22managed the village's strategic planning program, and created
23the Fire Corps Rehab Response Team; and

1    WHEREAS, Chief Haigh has worked as an Illinois Fire
2Service Institute Field Staff Instructor since 1995; he
3regularly presents and speaks internationally and has written
4numerous training programs for the fire service; he has
5authored over 30 fire service trade journal articles,
6including the soon to be released The Dynamic Fire Chief:
7Principles for Organizational Management; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate Fire Chief Craig A. Haigh on his retirement
11after 33 years of service, commend him for his dedication and
12outstanding service to the residents of Hanover Park, and wish
13him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Chief Haigh as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
