HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend retired Fire Chief Robert Buck
4for serving the Iroquois and Shelby Counties with dedication
5and commitment while demonstrating public service and love of
6community; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Robert Buck began his career at the Sheldon Fire
8District in 1980, where he became an EMT in 1984 and worked on
9the Township 8 Ambulance for the Iroquois Memorial Hospital;
10he later became an EMT-Intermediate and a Firefighter 2; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Robert Buck served as the president of the
12Eastern Illinois Mutual Fire Aid from 1988 to 1992; during his
13tenure, he became a firefighter with the Watseka Fire
14Department, where he helped battle three major fires and
15assisted countless community members; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Robert Buck moved with this wife, Rhonda, to
17Shelby County to be closer to family in 2000; his move also
18marked the beginning of his firefighting career in Findlay,
19where he became the fire and ambulance chief in 2003; in this
20role, he was known as a mentor, friend, and leader; he also
21helped start the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Division
2264, where he served as president; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Buck retired from his post as fire chief
2in 2018; he served as the trustee president of the Fire
3District, while he still answered calls as a firefighter,
4until his retirement in 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, In retirement, Robert Buck enjoys boating and
6spending time with his wife, his three children, his seven
7grandchildren, and his 15 great-grandchildren; therefore, be
8it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we commend retired Fire Chief Robert Buck on his decades of
12public service and wish him the best in his future endeavors;
13and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Robert Buck as an expression of our appreciation
16for his years of hard work in his community.
