HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Ingrid Velkme on the
4occasion of her retirement from serving as village manager of
5the Village of Western Springs on September 17, 2021; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ingrid Velkme began her career in public service
7as an intern in Western Springs in 1987; during her career, she
8served the Village of Indian Head Park as village
9administrator, the Village of Wheeling as assistant village
10manager, and at the Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency;
11she returned to the Village of Western Springs to become the
12deputy village manager/director of administrative services;
13she then served as the first female village manager in the
14village's history and held that position for over four years;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ingrid Velkme was a founding member of the Legacy
17Project, a project started by a group of women from various
18levels of public service in 2011 and dedicated to the
19advancement of women in public leadership in local and state
20government; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Ingrid Velkme holds a Master of Arts in Public
22Administration from Northern Illinois University and is a

1member of the International City and County Manager's
2Association (ICMA) and the Illinois City Manager's Association
3(ILCMA); therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we congratulate Ingrid Velkme on her retirement from serving
7as village manager of the Village of Western Springs and
8commend her for her more than 30 years as a public service
9professional in municipal government; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Ingrid Velkme as a symbol of our esteem and
12respect.
