HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Mrs. Selma Feder on the
4occasion of her 100th birthday on November 19, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Selma Reisberg was born in Poland on November 19,
61921; she and her family emigrated to the United States
7through Ellis Island in 1929; they eventually settled in
8Dallas, Texas, and she graduated from Forest Avenue High
9School and first met her beloved sweetheart and husband of
1075-years, renowned Chicago podiatric surgeon and former Niles
11Township trustee Harold J. Feder, DPM; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Selma Feder and her husband moved to Chicago and
13then to Skokie, where they raised four sons who themselves
14grew to become upstanding, exemplary members of the community
15and honored professionals, including esteemed Chicago
16podiatric surgeons Joel Feder, DPM and Marc Feder, DPM,
17Attorney Alvin Feder, and Chicago media columnist and blogger
18Robert Feder; she is also the proud grandmother of eight
19grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Selma Feder is an 80-year citizen of the City of
21Chicago and Villages of Skokie and Lincolnwood; she is a
22longtime active member of Skokie Valley Agudath Jacob

1Synagogue; she has devoted her life not just to her family but
2to over 60 years of active service and contribution to her
3community as a member of her synagogue sisterhood group and a
4member of numerous other charitable and philanthropic
5organizations and with her efforts to benefit the greater
6Skokie community, the State of Israel, and worthy causes
7around the world; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate Mrs. Selma Feder on her 100th birthday on
11November 19, 2021, and we wish her many more wonderful years;
12and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Selma Feder as an expression of our esteem and
15respect.
