HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Special
4Agent Michael Gale "Mike" Garbo of Sahuarita, Arizona, who was
5killed in the line of duty on October 4, 2021; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Special Agent Garbo was born in Grayville to
7Carol Ann (Young) Garbo and Larry Garbo on February 10, 1970;
8he graduated from Grayville High School in 1988 and Eastern
9Illinois University; he served with the U.S. Army National
10Guard; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Special Agent Garbo was inspired by his late
12father, an Illinois State Police captain, and pursued a career
13in law enforcement; he was a former police officer for the
14Metro Nashville Police Department; he was currently serving as
15a special agent of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
16based in Tucson, Arizona, a position he held since 2005; with
17unmatched talent, knowledge, dignity, and bravery, he
18dedicated his life's work to combating drug traffickers,
19spanning from Kabul, Afghanistan to various locations across
20the United States; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Special Agent Garbo was a dedicated father and
22husband who devoted his life to serving and caring for others;

1he enjoyed practicing Jiu Jitsu and martial arts, spending
2time with his family, and watching his daughter succeed in
3every aspect of her life; he will be greatly missed; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Special Agent Garbo was preceded in death by his
5parents and his special grandmother, Betty Garbo; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Special Agent Garbo is survived by his wife, Vida
7Mary Garbo; his daughter, Alexis Garbo; his niece and
8goddaughter, Kennedy Valinevicius; his brother, Terry Garbo;
9and many other loved ones; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we mourn the passing of Special Agent Michael Gale "Mike"
13Garbo and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
14friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Special Agent Garbo as an
17expression of our deepest sympathy.
