HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
4Firefighter/EMT MaShawn Plummer of the Chicago Fire
5Department, who passed away from injuries sustained in the
6line of duty on December 21, 2021; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Firefighter/EMT Plummer was born to Felicia
8Townsend Plummer and Jermaine Plummer on June 21, 1991; he was
9raised in Englewood; he studied at Chicago Public Schools
10before attending Hales Franciscan High School and then
11Eisenhower High School; he graduated from Quincy University,
12where he played football; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Firefighter/EMT Plummer worked for UPS and C.H.
14Robinson before joining the Chicago Fire Department; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Firefighter/EMT Plummer joined the Chicago Fire
16Department on December 1, 2020, and he was assigned to Engine
1794 firehouse at 5758 West Grace Street in the Portage Park
18neighborhood; he was known as a friendly presence at the
19station; he was dedicated to his job, going to the Black Fire
20Brigade for tutoring every Sunday; he was proud to be a
21firefighter and had aspirations to climb the ranks to chief
22one day; he had recently celebrated his one-year anniversary

1with the department at the time of his passing; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Firefighter/EMT Plummer was a diehard Chicago
3Bears and White Sox fan; he also loved reading Marvel comic
4books and collecting action figures; as a child, he enjoyed
5watching the Discovery Channel; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Firefighter/EMT Plummer was a phenomenal young
7man who filled the room with his stature, laughter, and smile;
8he was dedicated to serving and protecting others; he will be
9remembered for his heroic actions and for being the epitome of
10a brave firefighter; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Firefighter/EMT Plummer is survived by his
12parents, his four sisters, and a large family; therefore, be
13it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we mourn the passing of Firefighter/EMT MaShawn Plummer and
17extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
18who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Firefighter/EMT Plummer as an
21expression of our deepest sympathy.
