HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Vincent E. Rangel for his
4dedication and steadfast commitment to the residents of
5Illinois and its veteran community; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Vincent Rangel is a decorated military veteran of
7the U.S. Army who served honorably in the Vietnam War; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Vincent Rangel earned numerous awards and
9decorations for his service, including the Bronze Star Medal,
10the Purple Heart Medal, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation
11Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service
12Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Ranger Tab, and the
13Parachutist Badge; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Since his honorable discharge from military
15service, Vincent Rangel has continued to serve his fellow
16veterans through a wide variety of roles, organizational
17memberships, and community activities, including serving as a
18leading advocate for enhanced behavioral health services for
19veterans, volunteering as a guest lecturer at various
20universities, colleges, and secondary schools, representing
21veterans and providing students with an intimate history of
22the Vietnam War, and actively dedicating his time and energy

1to numerous veteran organizations and activities in Illinois;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Vincent Rangel has exhibited an exemplary
4commitment to his local community through various civic and
5volunteer activities, including serving as past president of
6the Mexican American Chamber of Commerce of Illinois, board
7member of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,
8chairman emeritus of St. Ignatius College Prep, where he helps
9raise over $250,000 annually towards student financial aid,
10and president of the Mexican Civic Society of Illinois, among
11numerous other volunteer leadership positions; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Vincent Rangel resides in Des Plaines, where he
13continues to serve the residents of his community and State;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we recognize Vincent E. Rangel for his continued dedication
18and steadfast commitment to the residents of Illinois and its
19veteran community; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to Vincent Rangel as a symbol of our respect and
22esteem.
