HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the 2021-2022 Fighting 
4Illini Men's Basketball Team on a historic season; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The Fighting Illini won the 2022 Big Ten 
6Championship for the program's 18th conference title while 
7earning the No. 1 seed for the Big Ten Tournament; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Coach Brad Underwood has led the Fighting Illini 
9back to national prominence with NCAA Tournament appearances 
10in both 2021 with a No. 1 seed and in 2022 with a No. 4 seed; 
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Coach Underwood won his 200th career game with a 
1393-85 victory at Michigan on February 27, 2022; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Team member Kofi Cockburn was a unanimous 
15selection for First-Team All-America and First-Team All-Big 
16Ten, after being the only player in the nation to average 20+ 
17points and 10+ rebounds; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Team member Trent Frazier was selected for 
19Second-Team All-Big Ten and finished his Illini career as the 
20school's fifth all-time leading scorer with 1,794 points,

1while starting in a school-record 138 games; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Team member Alfonso Plummer was Third-Team 
3All-Big Ten after finishing as the Illini's second leading 
4scorer at 14.6 points per game and leading the Big Ten in 
5three-point field goals; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, This entire team brought a season of joy, 
7enthusiasm, and excitement to thousands of fans and friends 
8across the state, throughout the nation, and around the world; 
9therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
11HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we congratulate the 2021-2022 Fighting Illini Men's Basketball 
13Team on a historic season; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That we are already looking forward to tipping 
15off the 2022-2023 season; and be it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
17presented to Coach Underwood, members of the staff, and all 
18members of the team as an expression of our gratitude.
