| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize the Springfield High School | ||||||
| 4 | show choir, Scarlet Harmony, for its achievements during the | ||||||
| 5 | past season; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Back from a 10-year hiatus, Scarlet Harmony is an | ||||||
| 7 | inspiring all female show choir comprised of 21 | ||||||
| 8 | singers/dancers backed by the Springfield High School show | ||||||
| 9 | choir band, Executive
Sound, and eight hardworking crew | ||||||
| 10 | members; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Scarlet Harmony is an extracurricular activity, | ||||||
| 12 | with members meeting two nights a week for two hours; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Scarlet Harmony, formerly a treble choir | ||||||
| 14 | established almost 50 years ago, was transformed into a show | ||||||
| 15 | choir by Kathy Elmore in 2011; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Scarlet Harmony has received numerous awards in | ||||||
| 17 | its past two years of competing; it placed second runner-up in | ||||||
| 18 | the Unisex/Treble Division at the
Mt. Zion Midwest | ||||||
| 19 | Invitational; the choir was named grand champion in Prep | ||||||
| 20 | Division and fourth runner-up overall at the
Keokuk Power City | ||||||
| 21 | Invitational in Iowa; it was first runner-up in the Prep | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Division at the
Central Lee Central Connection Invitational in | ||||||
| 2 | Iowa; the choir was sixth runner-up in the Unisex/Treble | ||||||
| 3 | Division at the Chatham-Glenwood The Event Invitational; it | ||||||
| 4 | was declared grand champion in the Unisex/Treble Division at | ||||||
| 5 | the
Herscher Swing & Swing Invitational; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, This year, Scarlet Harmony will have competed | ||||||
| 7 | locally at Mt. Zion and Chatham and out-of-state at Keokuk and | ||||||
| 8 | Central Lee, both in Iowa, before concluding its 2022 season | ||||||
| 9 | at the Herscher Swing & Sing competition; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Scarlet Harmony is under the direction of and | ||||||
| 11 | choreographed by Steven L. Robinson; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 13 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we recognize Scarlet Harmony for their achievements during the | ||||||
| 15 | past season and wish its members continued success; and be it | ||||||
| 16 | further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to all members of Scarlet Harmony and as a symbol of | ||||||
| 19 | our esteem and respect.
