1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1486

2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1486 by replacing | ||||||
3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | "Section 5. The Children and Family Services Act is | ||||||
5 | amended by adding Section 21.6 as follows: | ||||||
6 | (20 ILCS 505/21.6 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 21.6. Child protective investigators; personal | ||||||
8 | protection spray devices. A child protective investigator is | ||||||
9 | authorized to carry and use personal protection spray devices, | ||||||
10 | such as mace, pepper mace, or pepper gas, for self-defense | ||||||
11 | purposes while investigating a report of child abuse or | ||||||
12 | neglect if the child protective investigator has been trained | ||||||
13 | on the proper use of such personal protection spray devices by | ||||||
14 | the Illinois State Police. The Illinois State Police shall | ||||||
15 | establish a training program for child protective | ||||||
16 | investigators on the proper use of personal protection spray |

1 | devices for self-defense purposes. The Department shall | ||||||
2 | provide funding for the training program.

3 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
4 | becoming law.".
