Amends the Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987. Adds provision requiring that applicants for licensure as a physician assistant shall submit their fingerprints for the purpose of criminal history records background checks.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987 is |
5 | | amended by adding Section 12.5 as follows: |
6 | | (225 ILCS 95/12.5 new) |
7 | | Sec. 12.5. Criminal history records background check. Each |
8 | | applicant for licensure under Section 12 shall have his or her |
9 | | fingerprints submitted to the Illinois State Police in an |
10 | | electronic format that complies with the form and manner for |
11 | | requesting and furnishing criminal history record information |
12 | | as prescribed by the Illinois State Police. These fingerprints |
13 | | shall be transmitted through a live scan fingerprint vendor |
14 | | licensed by the Department. These fingerprints shall be |
15 | | checked against the Illinois State Police and Federal Bureau |
16 | | of Investigation criminal history record databases now and |
17 | | hereafter filed. The Illinois State Police shall charge |
18 | | applicants a fee for conducting the criminal history records |
19 | | check, which shall be deposited into the State Police Services |
20 | | Fund and shall not exceed the actual cost of the records check. |
21 | | The Illinois State Police shall furnish, pursuant to positive |
22 | | identification, records of Illinois convictions to the |
23 | | Department. The Department may require applicants to pay a |
