AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2535

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2535, AS AMENDED,
3with reference to page and line numbers of Senate Amendment
4No. 2, on page 14, by replacing lines 1 through 10 with the
5following:
6    "(a-5) In a hospital or institution licensed under the
7Hospital Licensing Act, all prescribers of an opioid shall
8inform the patient that opioids are addictive and that opioid
9antagonists are available by prescription or from a pharmacy.
10Upon discharge, any patient who has overdosed on controlled
11substances shall be provided with an opioid antagonist in
12accordance with written, standardized procedures or protocols
13developed by the Department of Financial and Professional
14Regulation with the Department of Human Services and the
15Department of Public Health and filed at the pharmacy before
16implementation and are available to the Department of Human
17Services upon request.
