SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
5 ILCS 490/198 new

    Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Provides that the 7th day of August of each year is designated as Assyrian Martyrs Day to be observed as a day in recognition of the genocide and persecution of the Assyrian people, and to support the Assyrians of Illinois and commemorate all Assyrian American military veterans who served, and continue to serve, in the United States Armed Forces and the Illinois National Guard.

1    AN ACT concerning government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by
5adding Section 198 as follows:
 
6    (5 ILCS 490/198 new)
7    Sec. 198. Assyrian Martyrs Day. The 7th day of August of
8each year is designated as Assyrian Martyrs Day to be observed
9as a day in recognition of the genocide and persecution of the
10Assyrian people, and to support the Assyrians of Illinois and
