    Amends the Local Journalism Task Force Act. Adds additional members to be appointed by the Governor to the Local Journalism Task Force within 30 days after effective date of the amendatory Act.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Local Journalism Task Force Act is amended
5by changing Section 10 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 4108/10)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2024)
8    Sec. 10. Membership.
9    (a) The Task Force shall include the following members:
10one member of the House of Representatives appointed by the
11Speaker of the House of Representatives; one member of the
12House of Representatives appointed by the Minority Leader of
13the House of Representatives; one member of the Senate
14appointed by the President of the Senate; one member of the
15Senate appointed by the Minority Leader of the Senate; and one
16member appointed by the Governor.
17    (b) The Task Force shall also include the following
18members appointed by the Governor: one representative of the
19Chicago News Guild; one representative of the Chicago Chapter
20of the National Association of Broadcast Employees and
21Technicians-Communication Workers of America; one
22representative of the Medill School of Journalism, Media,
23Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern

1University; one representative of the Public Affairs Reporting
2Program at the University of Illinois at Springfield; one
3representative of the School of Journalism at Southern
4Illinois University Carbondale; one representative of the
5Illinois Press Association; one representative of the Illinois
6Broadcasters Association; one representative of the Illinois
7Legislative Correspondents Association; one representative of
8the Illinois Public Broadcasting Council; one representative
9of the Illinois News Broadcasters Association; one
10representative of the University of Illinois at
11Urbana-Champaign; one representative of the Chicago
12Independent Media Alliance; one representative of the National
13Association of Black Journalists; one representative of the
14Association of LGBTQ Journalists; one representative of the
15National Association of Hispanic Journalists; one
16representative of the Asian American Journalists Association;
17one representative of the Native American Journalists
18Association; and one representative of the Illinois Municipal
19League.
20    (c) Appointments shall be made no later than 30 days
21following the effective date of this Act. Any additional
22membership appointments made pursuant to the changes made by
23this amendatory Act of the 102nd General Assembly shall be
24made no later than 30 days following the effective date of this
25amendatory Act of the 102nd General Assembly.
