SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 60/43  from Ch. 111, par. 4400-43

    Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Provides that the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation may restore the medical license of an individual whose licensed was revoked due to medical billing mistakes as long as the licensee is no longer handling billing and is not an individual provider.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by
5changing Section 43 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 60/43)  (from Ch. 111, par. 4400-43)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2027)
8    Sec. 43. Restoration of license from discipline. At any
9time after the successful completion of a term of probation,
10suspension, or revocation of a license, the Department may
11restore the license to the licensee, unless after an
12investigation and a hearing, the Secretary determines that
13restoration is not in the public interest. No person or entity
14whose license or permit has been revoked as authorized in this
15Act may apply for restoration of that license or permit until
16such time as provided for in the Civil Administrative Code of
17Illinois.
18    The Department may restore the medical license of an
19individual whose licensed was revoked due to medical billing
20mistakes as long as the licensee is no longer handling billing
21and is not an individual provider.
