SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Richard Wayne "Rick" Glass of
4Bloomington, who passed away on December 7, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rick Glass was born in Akron, Ohio to Robert and
6Marilyn (Basford) Glass on February 1, 1948; he graduated from
7Joliet West in 1966 and the University of Cincinnati in 1971;
8he earned his master's degree in Hospital and Healthcare
9Administration from Xavier University in 1978; he married
10Barbara on October 30 1982; together, they raised their three
11children in Peoria and later in Bloomington-Normal; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rick Glass had a distinguished career serving his
13community; he was vice president of Proctor Hospital in Peoria
14for 15 years; he then served as CEO of Marcfirst, an agency
15supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in
16Bloomington-Normal, until he retired in 2013; he was known as
17a strong, quiet leader; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Rick Glass was a member of the Unitarian
19Universalist Church; alongside his wife, he spent his
20retirement years hiking and camping across the country, and he
21reached his 50th state in 2018; he enjoyed adventures further
22afield, traveling to England, Italy, China, South Africa,

1Japan, and Portugal; he spent eight beautiful summers at his
2log cabin in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; he enjoyed researching
3genealogy, collecting art and tribal rugs, sharing movie
4recommendations, touring historic sites and botanical gardens,
5and biking through Door County in Wisconsin; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rick Glass was known for his calming presence,
7his cheeky sense of humor, and his laugh; he was a great
8joke-teller, campfire-builder, and aficionado of dark beer; he
9will be remembered as a loving human being with an endless
10supply of kindness and compassion that he shared freely with
11his friends and family; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rick Glass was preceded in death by his parents;
13his stepfather, Peter Swick; his stepmother, Shirley Glass;
14and his stepbrother, Don Barnett; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Rick Glass is survived by his wife, Barbara
16Campbell; his son, Carl (Parrish) Glass; his daughters, Sarah
17Glass (Joe Chidley) and Jessica Glass; his siblings, Linda
18(Fred) Storch, Gail (Jim) Bartz, James Swick, and Peggy (R.G.)
19Bender; his stepbrothers, John Barnett and Mike Barnett; and
20his many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Richard Wayne "Rick" Glass and extend our sincere condolences
2to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
3it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Rick Glass as an expression of our
6deepest sympathy.
