SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the loss of Otis "Otie" Glen Ruff of rural
4Streator, who passed away on January 25, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Otie Ruff was born to Glenn and Bernice (Tinges)
6Ruff in rural Fairbury on October 20, 1933; he attended the
7Cornell Grade School and High School and graduated from Long
8Point High School in 1951; he served in the U.S. Army during
9the Korean Conflict; he married Marian Vissering on November
1029, 1996; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Otie Ruff farmed all his life in the Long Point
12area and on the Wisconsin state line; he, along with his
13brothers, started Long Point Grain elevator in 1957; later
14known as Ruff Brothers Grain, the business now serves 15
15central Illinois communities; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Otie Ruff was a member of the Long Point United
17Methodist Church and the Long Point American Legion; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Otie Ruff had a passion for horses; the Ruff
19Riders pony and draft horse hitches were staples at many
20central Illinois horse shows and parades; and

1    WHEREAS, Otie Russ was preceded in death by his parents
2and his brother, Dean Ruff; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Otie Ruff is survived by his wife; his daughters,
4Cindy (Kevin) Bertsche, Mary Beth (Virl) Voights, and Barbara
5Ruff; his son, Mark Ruff; his grandchildren, Tim (Mandy)
6Hogan, Abby (Bick) Hall, Jared (Joelle) Bertsche, Grace and
7Glen Ruff, and Kyle Voights; his five great-grandchildren; his
8brothers, Jerry (Janice) Ruff and Keith (JoAnn) Ruff; his
9sisters-in-law, Arlene (John) Martin and Judy (Jeff) Wahls;
10and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Otis "Otie" Glen Ruff and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Otie Ruff as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
