SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gregory G. "Greg" Lietz of Danville,
4who passed away on February 9, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Greg Lietz was born in Chicago to Gerald and
6Kathryn Lietz on January 3, 1947; he graduated from Champaign
7High School, the University of Illinois, and the University of
8Missouri-Kansas City School of Law; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Greg Lietz practiced law for more than 40 years;
10he served as village attorney and water district attorney for
11several Vermilion County governmental units; he always strived
12to the highest degree of integrity for his profession and the
13clients he served; he enjoyed helping people who sought his
14professional advice and took a genuine, caring interest in his
15clients; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Greg Lietz was the long-time treasurer for the
17Vermilion County Democratic Party; he served as treasurer for
18several Democratic candidates on the local and State level; he
19served on the Vermilion County 708 Mental Health Board for
20over 20 years, during which he served as president for 10
21years; he was a member of the Vermilion County Bar
22Association; and

1    WHEREAS, Greg Lietz was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church
2in Danville for over 40 years, where he taught Sunday School
3and Bible School and served on the Church Council; he was an
4avid stamp collector; he loved being outside and planting
5Early Girl tomatoes; he was known as a steady rock to those who
6asked for his counsel; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Greg Lietz was preceded in death by his parents
8and his brother, Gary (Peggy) Lietz; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Greg Lietz is survived by his wife of 49 years,
10Marie E. Lietz; his children, Jenny (Kyle) Rauch and Robert
11(Gina) Lietz; his grandchildren, Hannah Rauch, Haley Rauch,
12Ella Rauch, Mia Lietz, Dominic Lietz, Colt Lietz, and Reagan
13Lietz; his brother, Ronald Lietz; his many nieces and nephews;
14and his canine companion, Buddy; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Gregory G. "Greg" Lietz and extend our sincere condolences to
18his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Greg Lietz as an expression of our
