SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Reverend Arthur V. Woolley of Bement,
4who passed away on January 21, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rev. Woolley was born in Saybrook to Thomas B.
6and Elizabeth Ring Woolley on July 3, 1934; he served in the
7U.S. Army in Germany from 1956 to 1958; he married Betty A.
8Richard on February 14, 1959, and she preceded him in death on
9January 8, 2013; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rev. Woolley was an editor for the family-owned
11newspaper in Colfax; he served as pastor for over 40 years, and
12he touched many lives with his ministry; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Rev. Woolley was a member of the Kansas Masonic
14Lodge 280 for 49 years; he was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball
15fan, and he attended many games throughout the years with his
16family; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Rev. Woolley was preceded in death by his wife of
1853 years, Betty; his eldest son, Thomas R. Woolley; his
19parents; and a sister; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rev. Woolley is survived by his children, John R.

2Summar, and Matthew R. Woolley; his 12 grandchildren; and his
3seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Reverend Arthur V. Woolley and extend our sincere condolences
7to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
8it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Rev. Woolley as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
